4-Car Accident Shuts Down Highway 408
Local media outlets are reporting a 4-car accident on State Road 408, at the I-4 interchange. The crash occurred during the morning rush hour, and caused State Road 408 to closed for hours.More than one vehicle was damaged to the extent that drivers and other occupants were trapped in their cars. One of the accident victims was an Orange County sheriff's deputy who had to be freed from his vehicle by Orlando fire rescue officers.
Several people complained of personal injuries and were taken by ambulance to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Central Floridians recognize this area as a high-traffic, high-congestion area - partcularly during rush hour. Drivers should drive defensively in this area, and should refrain from cell phone use or texting or anything else that might distract them from safe driving.
