Bodily injury liability coverage is insurance designed to cover a vehicle owner or driver in the event that the vehicle is involved in an accident resulting in injuries to someone else. In theory, bodily injury liability coverage should keep an insurance customer from having a costly judgment entered against him or her by an injured person. Bodily injury (BI) liability coverage is not required in Florida. Vehicle owners must specifically purchase BI coverage in order to protect themselves. Most responsible insurance agents will over BI coverage to their clients, but not all. We find that many folks who elect to purchase the absolute cheapest insurance available, will often elect not to carry bodily injury liability coverage. Because of this fact, we always recommend that our clients, friends, and loved ones carry Uninsured/Undersinsured Motorist coverage.
