Wrong Way Driver On 417 Leaves Fire Rescue Amazed That More Lives Weren't Lost

Multiple Central Florida media outlets reported this morning about a crash on State Road 417 in Seminole County involving a wrong-way driver. Somehow, Arthur Robinson, of Deland, made his way on to southbound 417, but was headed in the wrong direction. It is unclear how long Mr. Robinson was traveling on the highway, but law enforcement say that had just heard about it about the time the crash occurred -- in Ovideo, near the State Road 434 overpass.
Mr. Robinson's 2000 Chevrolet unfortunately crashed into a mini-van transporting two adults and at least four children, aged two to eight years. Mr. Robinson was tragically killed in the crash.
Meanwhile, the mini-van was caused to crash into a guard rail, and got stuck there teetering over a 150-foot drop until fire rescue could finally secure it. The adult driver and passenger reportedly suffered serious injuries and were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Fire rescue personnel were reportedly stunned to find any survivors given the severity of the impact.
